Plant Unit Support Kit for PreK, K, and Grade 1

Our Plant Unit Support Kit is designed to support PreK, K, and Grade 1 teachers with delivering Saskatchewan Science Curriculum outcomes focused on plants. The kit contains a starter plant, pot and soil for each student in the class. Starter plants may be Spider Plants, Cuban Oregano, Ice Plants or Mexican Hat Plants. The included teacher instruction sheet provides guidelines and suggestions to assist students in successfully potting their young plant.

Teachers ordering a kit will also receive links to two accompanying videos supporting classroom instruction. The videos are based on the Saskatchewan Science Curriculum and were created at the Conservatory.

• The video “Parts of Plants” takes students on a digital tour of the Regina Floral Conservatory while demonstrating the parts of plants by utilizing many of the amazing plants growing at the Conservatory.
• The “Let’s Get Planting” video demonstrates how to plant a cutting and includes directions and prompts for teachers and their young students.

The cost of the kit is $5.00 per student (subsidized by the Regina Garden Associates). Your school division office will be invoiced for the cost of your kit.

The young plants included in the kit are fragile and for best results should be potted by students within two to three days of Plant Unit Kit pick up or delivery.

• Plant Kits ordered by schools located within the City of Regina are only available for pick up on Tuesdays and Thursdays prior to 4:30 pm at the Regina Floral Conservatory.
• Plant kits ordered by schools located within the City of Regina can be delivered on Tuesdays or Thursdays for an additional $10.00.
• Plant Kits ordered by schools located outside the City of Regina are only available for pick up on Saturdays.
• You will receive an email confirming receipt of your order. If you do not receive confirmation within 10 days from the submission of your order, please send an email to education@reginafloralconservatory.ca.
